Fresh Squeezed: Blake Miller
At the age of 21, Portland's Blake Miller has clearly expirienced or heard or felt something that most don't comprehend until much older. There is other way to explain the depth and texture of his music. On his sophmore release, Burn Tape (Exit Stencil Records), Blake delves even deeper into the possibilities bedroom recording and field noise pop. It's been two years since the release of Together With Cats, and Blake has spent that time recording alone and refining his sound.
It's clear that Blake begins with solid foundation of pop sensibility, but it is the way he builds and warps varies elements of found sounds and creative instrumention that is really going to set him apart this year. Burn Tape is scheduled for release on April 21st, but we have an advanced look at the album below. It is being released on limited edition Cassette with digital download code, and limited edition hand screened CD.
