The Watch List: Mel Bosworth Edition
This week's Watch List comes from Mel Bosworth. Mel was also kind enough to offer up three copies of his recent collection "When the Cats Razzed the Chickens" to the first three people to e-mail him at eddiesocko [AT] gmail.com with OA Contest in the subject line! Congrats to our winners Rebekah Silverman, Chloe Caldwell, and Gabe Durham!
Listening:
1. Nothing Like a Song(mp3) by Azure Ray, off their 2003 album "Hold On Love." This breathy, beautiful duo from Athens, Georgia disbanded in 2004. Wah.
2. Suspect Device(mp3) by Stiff Little Fingers, off their 1979 album "Inflammable Material." This song, and the entire album, still kicks ass over 30 years later.
3. East West(mp3) by Morrissey appears on a number of singles and B-side albums, most recently 2003's "The Singles 88-91." Moz can't flail around the stage like he used to, but he can still croon his ass off. In November of last year he gave us "Swords."
4. Hot Seat(mp3) by Vic Chesnutt, off his 1996 album "About to Choke." This paraplegic songwriter from Jacksonville, Florida was well loved and well respected for many years. He passed away on December 25th, 2009. Miss you, buddy.
5. That's How Strong My Love Is(mp3) by Otis Redding. This song first popped up on his 1965 album "The Great Otis Redding Sings Soul Ballads." Think of it as an early Valentine's Day treat.
